I''m not sure. I think hash tables are preferable since they are faster. You could ask on comp.lang.lisp

Property lists are very slow compared to almost any other method of data storage, but they''re bloody convenient and extremely useful for rapid prototyping and testing. And that, after all, is where Lisp really shines.
