Recomendation of 3D file formats

Ok, I´m not 100% sure I´m in the right forum. But my question is about choosing a 3D file format for 3D objects in a game. I have done one game using the X format. And this worked quite weel except for long loading times. I now want to start over from scratch but I suspect that X format has some limitations, like highpolygon normalmaps and such. I have heard that nvidea has a good format that holds all the new vertex and pixelshaders (???). Basicly I want a robust format that won´t have limitations later on when(if) I get inte to the high tech stuff. I also would like to skipp doing a own format beacuse of the trouble of doing a plugin to Max or Maya that exports to my format. Any help would be appreciated. /Niklas
