Hello. I have an interface in which several buttons are represented as DirectShow animations on a keyboard. The buttons work except that before they have pressed (i.e. clicked on) they are not visible. I need some way to extract the first frame of the animation and then be able to display it to a Direct3D surface. Has anybody come across this problem? Is there a simple solution that I am missing? Thanks in advance for any help. Mark Coleman

The DX SDK has a sample for this exact procedure.
Search for topic "Grabbing a Poster Frame".
As to displaying a D3D surface, use the Media Detector''s method "GetBitmapBits" and write the said bits to the destination.
