I'm working on a game in 8-bit colour and I want to be able to do effects such as day->night by changing the colours in the palette. I have been trying to do this by changing the colours in the PaletteEntries array and using SetEntries but it's not working the way I want it to. It seems that the colours in my bitmaps are always matched with the closest colour in the palette. Is there any way to modify a colour in the palette to whatever I want it to be without having DirectDraw match the closest colour to the bitmap? Anyone? Hmmm... DirectDraw matching colors by itself... Sounds strange, never encountered it myself.

What version of DirectDraw are you using?
Also, if you could show some of your code for changing the palette and drawing bitmaps, it would help.
