OpenGL Opengl client area question

The problem I am having is that I am writing an opengl based editor with a menu at the top. The menu covers a portion of the client area of my opengl window and is very irritating. How would I go at correcting this problem. Thanks Robert

You render your scene in a viewport (smaller) and render the menu in a viewport equal to the size of the window.
