AGP Memory Management

What means are there of checking available memory on the video card, and what is the best approach of allocating space between dynamic and static data???

The general advice for DirectX is not to worry about it and let Direct3D handle where to put it. You then give the driver hints about how you are going to use say a texture and Direct3D and the driver work together to find the best place for it i.e. video card, AGP memory or main mem

I dont use DX, this is the GL forums (Even tho this isnt just counted in GL). Ive seen an app by Nvidia which tells u the available memory, but there is no source for it... * frowns *

they could well use DX to get at it or do something cunning with the VAR extension.
As fir DX its probably best not to worry about it, for the most part the driver allocation of ram via VBO will be smart enuff
