Vertex Array Problem

Hi! Can anyone tell me how to use vertex Array? I use this code. I want to use it to speed up the drawing of a heightMap. glEnableClientState(GL_VERTEX_ARRAY); glVertexPointer(3, GL_INT, 0, vertex); glDrawElements(GL_QUADS, height*width, GL_UNSIGNED_INT, vertex); glDisableClientState(GL_VERTEX_ARRAY); vertex is a very long array of heightMap data. (i.e the data that is used is from a.tga picture .)
