How to clear part of screen while not clearing the other part? (OpenGl)

Hi, i want to draw a continuous time graph and am wondering how to update part of the screen without clearing the other part (the graph). Do I use glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); differently or is there another function? P.S I''m using Visual C++. Please help!

Use a scissor test (check out the function glScissor.) This will affect all drawing, including glClear.
