I''m using Borland Command Line tools 5.5. My ddraw.lib includes DirectDrawCreate, but not DirectDrawCreateEx. This means I can only use DirectDraw 1; where can I get a new (better) library for it?

Sounds like you need a new DirectX SDK. Version 9 is the most recent, with Version 10 on its way. The DirectX SDKs can be obtained from the Microsoft website.

The oldest SDK( to my knowledge... ) is to support that function is Version 6...

I''m not sure if I''ll be much help since I havent used
borland products much. I think it should work if you
set everything up properly and have DX7 SDK or better.

Maybe instead of using DirectDrawCreateEx function you can
use COM to query the DD7 interface.

LPDIRECTDRAW pOldDD = NULL;
LPDIRECTDRAW7 pNewDD = NULL;

DirectDrawCreate(NULL, &pOldDD, NULL);
pOldDD->QueryInterface(IID_IDirectDraw7, (void**)&pNewDD);

// ...
pNewDD->SetDisplayMode(800, 600, 32);
// ...
// ...

Something like that. Good luck!

There''s an idea. Better than my idea..

I tried using CoCreateInstance but it told me the class wasn''t registered, so I tried CoRegisterClassObject, which didn''t work either..
