OpenAL or Fmod?

I personally think fmod is slightly easier to use and possibly has more features, but fmod is only free to use for free projects I believe. Project you intend to charge money for will fit under another license you will have to pay for.

OpenAL is completely free I believe.

Wow, need to see licenses.
For now, it''s free, but i don''t know how it will evolve in the future (3D Strategy Game).
In which can i apply some effects such as distortions like room echos in real time (i don''t think i need it for the moment, but i''m interested for the future, for RPGs perhaps (don''t like FPS style fo the moment) )

OpenAL - use EAX exstension with DirectX 3D sound - tough this is only for windows .
