hi everyone, im a newbie to games development and all that but ive been interested in designing games for a long time. I was just wondering if there is a proffesional job that invlolves being involved in the level/character design sketches and concept art. because i would like to design characters and levels and art for games but i wouldnt want to model them and such. is there such a job, if so wots it called? any information would be greatly appreciated thanx alot. skribble [edited by - skribble_style on June 8, 2004 12:51:26 AM]

That would be a "Concept Artist", not an easy position to land though. It's about the equivalent of landing a lead designer position.

You'll have to be really, really good and you should probably start making as many industry contacts as possible.

Depends on the job. Some companies can afford several artists that are specialized.
Smaller companies probably want artists who can do pretty much anything.
3d modelling skills are often required.
