the gap between DirectSound and DirectShow

DirectSound is great, but it has - as far as I know - a big disadvantagge, it just supports *wav files. DirectShow - handlig the FilterGraph manager - is in this respect very useful, allowing you to incorporate endless file formats, ogg, mp3 etc. It also - theoretically - allows you to load a mp3 (*.ogg ... ) file and output it to soundbuffer. At least you build graphs doing that (I found that possibility in the GhraphEditor). But how would this look like in plain C++ code? It would be also helpful if I could find a tutorial about DirecztShow pins.
