You can get into mode 13h from VC 1.x. Versions 2 and above don''t allow it. I was looking for such a compiler a year ago and since I couldn''t find it or it was too big to download I didn''t get it, and kept using DOS compilers (with extenders).

actually the reason you cannot change to mode 13h using win32s, is because a win32 "CONSOLE" OR "GUI" application has a lower(higher) IOPL I/O privelage level and IPL interrupt privelage level: protected modem programming concepts. any and I mean ANY attempt to execute an interrupt or i/o command by a program with a lower privelage level will cause a GPF general protection fault. so you CANNOT change to mode 13h, unless you can change your program''s privelage level. however, what you can do is write a VXD which run at higher privelage level. or write a DOS application and run it in a DOS window.
