Actually, I like Visual C++. The "visual" is just so it sounds nice next to Visual Basic. C++ is the language, and Visual C++ is the IDE (compiler, linker, editor) by Microsoft.

Visual C++ is Microsoft's compiler and environment. It is used by most professional programming companies who write in C++. It's pretty nice and it has a lot of good features. Another good compiler and environment is Borland C++Builder, and the newest version is supposed to be almost as good, if not the same as the Visual C++ one.

I just started programming and am very new to this world. Is there a difference between c++ and Visual c++?

Thanks
