Should I Get An iPod?
I need an mp3 player, quite badly. I travel frequently during the day (parents are divorced, and I see them both), and it's a hassle to carry around all my CDs. I have the money, and want to get my player today (quick, aren't I?). Basically, I've heard mixed things about the iPod, but it seems the best for me. It's competitor is the Nomad Zen player. They are the exact same price, due to various sales. Which do you guys think is best? I play .wma and .mp3 files, but not .ogg. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

If you are willing to shell out that much money, I would go for the iPod simply because it looks so blasted cool.

Actually, that's why I favor the iPod. Does it play .wma's, though?

iPods do not, they play .m4p (AAC), Apples codec compression. The cool thing though is that iTunes converts your .wma files to .m4p for you, though quality might suffer a bit, you'll still be able to put all your .wma songs onto your iPod.
My father has the Creative Nomad Zen and loves it. The selling point for him though was the price, the Zen was much cheaper for the same capacity. If price isn't an issue go with what you think looks best as they both have pretty much the same functionality.

Buy an iPod mini!
Those things are the coolest EVER.
I think the minis are ugly. And I like the buttons on the REAL ipod.

What program does the Nomad Zen use to download music? Hope it's not MusicMatch, I would rather stick forks in my eyes than use MusicMatch.
Anyway, iTunes is an awesome program, so if the two players are really equal in features and price, then that might be a deciding factor.

personally, I use extra flash memory cards in my sony clie pda. MP3 player + PDA + mini-digicam + integrated 802.11b wireless + everything else = far cheaper than each item seperately. Oh, I also found a free graphing calculator program that instantly added $100 value to my pda.

See, I'd use that, except I don't have a Clie.
