Compiler With Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus?

4 posts in this topic

There should be two CDs with the book, one with the compiler, the other with everything else. It seems like when I opened it, it wasn't immediately obvious that there were 2 CDs in there, so double check. If it's really missing, go to mcp.com and click on the product support link and fill out the form you'll find there. They SHOULD send you one, but you want to make sure that they know you want the compiler CD, and not the other one. As you may know, the other one had corrupted files, and they've had many requests for replacement CDs.

It had corrupted files?
I got that book, and the only file I've found that doesn't work right is the install for TrueSpace 4.2. It locks up during installation.
Is this one of the corrupted files?

Also - the book mentions that it will come with a demo of Sounde Forge XL (or something like that...) for making audio files, but I can't find it on the CD. Was it accidentally not included?

If you got the book recently, it might not have had the corrupted CD. trueSpace was one of the corrupted files. The online books had some problems, as well as some other things.

I don't know about the Sound Forge demo, though.

I don't think sound forge was meant to be included, I know mine doesn't have it. But it does have cool edit, which is a pretty good utility to make sounds.
