projection of view frustrum

Hello! given the 6 Planes of the Viewing Frustrum and a sea level plane, how would you get the projection from the frustrum onto the plane, i.e. the area of the plane where the frustrum can be seen from. Right now I'm doing it in a very simple and efficent way, that is just projecting the Corner Points of the Frustrum, making of these a polygon on the plane. This works for all cases where the frustrum is inside the world, however when the frustrum goes out the sea level plane, this projection covers too much. What is actually important is to get a polygon of the projection on the sea level plane. Maybe you know something, thanks Sebastian
