Im looking for any place to get textures from. Im building a space game for kicks and would like some decent textures for planets. Anyone have any ideas where I could find images that could be used as textures for planets? I have visited the NASA site and have most if not all of the planets in our solar system but 9(+moons)... yeah I would like some more textures than that... Any ideas would be appreciated.

Maps of Earth and Mars. (512MB RAM is not enough to display the big ones on my PC!!!)
Nice earth textures. Also quite big ones (8192x4096). Including cloud maps, the dark side of earth, ice maps, sea alpha maps.
Even more maps.
Textures of Jupiter, Saturn and moons
Textures for all planets. Unfortunately, the big ones cost money

Heightmaps of earth.
Heightmaps of Mars. You need to get the "topography" file IIRC (e.g. megt90n000fb.img is very fine (32 pixels per degree)
The heightmaps are 16 Bit per pixel and the unit is "meters" IIRC. They are mapped in polar coordinates, i.e. 360 x 180 degrees x (pixels per degree)^2. So the 32 pixels per degree file is already quite large...

This should suffice for the start 8-P
One of my favorite sites that I found a LONG time ago is at http://textures.forrest.cz

Just a good overall site for some textures. A nice high pass filter and some re-coloring goes a long way :)
