OpenGL DirectSound only choice for Windows?

Hi guys! Im wondering if every sound-engine on a Windows operatingsystem is based on DirectSound? Or is there any other way to play sounds like OpenGL is a way to not use DirectDraw for the graphics part? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, there's WaveOut too.
But if you really need a low-level API i'd suggest using DSound, since it's a lot easier to handle.

If you want hardcore top end audio devices only then you can use ASIO, but i warn you now, its a pain in the hole. but you can do multi channel easy, as many channels as the device has.
