CD3DFont help

I am using DX8 and the CD3DFont class for my text drawing. I have used this for some time and it has done pretty good. However, I have noticed that the same code is producing VERY pixellated text, in just parts of my app. One screen it may produce "ok" text thet next screen very poor text. The only difference between the two screens is that I am rendering a few textured quads on the screen that produces the pixellated text. What could be happening that could cause these varied results? Perhaps a render state or something? I am baffled. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated

CD3DFont renders the font to a bitmap (I believe) which is used as a texture.

I'm guessing that the problem has something to do with the filtering that's being applied.

Personally, I haven't touched CD3DFont in about a year and a half, though, so I'm not that familiar with how it operates anymore.
