MVC?

Hi, I'm reading up on the MVC pattern and getting rather confused. Initially I thought that one could apply the concept pretty easily to a game engine but not I'm not so sure. I fail to see who concepts like scene-graphs and renderers fit in and what exactly the controller's role is (it's not simple user input surely). I would be most interested to hear peoples opinions on this pattern and its applicability to game engine design. Thanks [EDIT] Thanks for moving it :) [/EDIT]
