SDL texture mapping code

I am trying to convert my texture mapping code from using glaux to using sdl and I copied the function inside of the lesson 6 sdl code and it doesn`t work! It compiles but my cube is not textured! I then just copied all of the code and it still does not work. The only reason I can think of is because there is something in there that is not portable and only works on linux. Has anyone else had these problems?
