Proper way to handle an incoming SMS message.

What is the correct way? We have one phone (Samsung A620) that handles incoming SMS messages while playing a game....then there is another samsung A620 (yes, the same model phone) being tested somewhere else, but it crashes upon closing the SMS message. This doesn't make sense to me since it is the same code. The Samsung A620 that crashes though, interestingly, handles incoming SMS messages fine with other games. Any ideas are helpful!!
