i've heard that if i use a non-microsoft distro of opengl that hardware drivers won't support it. is this ture?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Mesa3d has hardware support on linux and bsd through the DRI/DRM infrastructure.

what i mean is taht thier is to be asking if thier is any hardware acelleeration for other oprts of opengl other the the microsoft one.

I'm still not quite sure if I understand your question, but MS did not release any 'OpenGL port' since Windows 98. The opengl.lib and .dll are just stubs, all calls to the rendering core are redirected to graphic card drivers.
So if your gfx card comes with OpenGL capable drivers, then you will always get hardware acceleration.
As C-Junkie already stated, Mesa3D offers hardware acceleration through DRI/DRM if available (on any supported OS).

In short: OpenGL implementations use hardware acceleration if available through OS infrastructure (e.g. hardware drivers and windowing system).
