I have my font up and running using ID3DXFont. MSDN says to call ID3DXFont::OnReset after the device has been reset. What does this function actually do? Because my program works the same with and without this function call.

I'd imagine it would refresh any sort of internal surface ID3DXFont uses, similar to the release and restore needed by other DX surfaces require when the device gets reset.

When you lose the device and recover it, you should reset your resources and buffers. OnReset allows D3DXFont to recreate its internal buffer in this case.

Luck!
