Is there a way to start drawing a bitmap using a palette from a different bitmap? All I have as a drawing tool is MS paint and I dont believe it can be done in that... Or is there something out there that lets you see all the current colors in your palette?

Technically you can draw a bitmap with another pallete but the colors need not always be the same. Also if you have 256 color bmp(Save as -> 256 Color Bitmap) then you can use the default pallete I think.

Btw what are you using to draw ? (like GDI or Mode13h)

Well, Im trying to make a game with DirectX so would GDI apply to me? I dont think I have hear of Mode13, whats that?

If I made the game load 25bit bitmaps, I wouldnt need to worry about palettes though, correct?

16bit, 24bit, 32bit display modes do not have palettes, that's true. So you could load 8bit bitmaps and display them in one of these modes, and it wouldn't matter what palettes they use.
