Drawing a line

I know this is graphics related, but i think it would be more apporpriate here. My question is if i wanted to draw a line from point a to point b, how would i find the pixels inbetween that need to be drawn without sampleing each pixel. Also what if i wanted it to be antialiased, and what about curves, elipses, etc...?
