[web] Firefox CSS Problem

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm not having a syntax IE problem, I'm having a problem with the marginning of my css design under Firefox. If you take a look at my new webpage design under IE, you'll notice that everything is lined up. Under Firefox, however, the margins on the paragraphs are screwed. Anyone experience this before? Also, I have a jpg at the top right of the page which can be viewed in Firefox, but not IE. What's goin on?!

Everything seems lined up under FF for me, but I'm assuming you mean that it's not as spacious as it is under IE. I think I came across something similar with my site and ended up using padding over margin. I'm at work right now so unable to tinker with it. If I remember tonight I'll take another look.

As for your image thing, it's bizarre. The image *is* there as you can click the space - the only thing I can think of right now is that it's perhaps to do with the z-order, but again I can't check until I get home in 8 hours.

Compliments on a nice clean design though [smile]

It's IE that's the problem. IE's CSS margin handling code is broken. Firefox obeys the standards.

*sigh*

Having said that, I've just been playing with the CSS in topographic mode (Web Developer toolbar for Firefox - everyone must download it immediately if you haven't already). I can't get P to respond to any margin commands at all, which makes me think that it actually won't (it's always margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;).

In HTML 4.x P is prohibited from containing block-level elements. That might have something to do with it. The suggestion is to use DIV instead.

Oh, and the image thing is probably a z-level problem.

I finally got it fixed. I used padding to fix it up in Mozilla, and then fumbled around with the margin attributes to fix it up for IE. I haven't tested on Opera or any other, but it it works in those two browsers, that's good enough for me. As for the picture? I ended up moving it to the bottom of the page. Looks better down there anyway.

Thanks so much for your help!
