For my first direct3D program, I am simply loading in a heightmap from a bmp file and texturing a color map to it. This seems to work fine, except that the texture seems to have wierd moving shapes in the background. I have enclosed the following demo of my work to explain what I mean (use w,a,s,d to move). You will notice that the mountains in the horizon have really wierd shapes that move as you move... http://studentweb.tulane.edu/~mconway/EcoPlaygroundD3D.rar Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I bet your z-buffer is 8 or 16 bit.

Notice the water-like polygon. See the depth fighting? Change your z-buffer to 24 or 32 bit.
