SDL vs GLUT

hi all, I knew about GLUT and would want to know whether SDL & GLUT serves the same purpose of providing keyboard/mouse movements & windowing functionalities for OpenGL. kindly clarify; also would like to know which is better and in what sense ? thanks, kavitha

basically the same. SDL does more (audio, joystick, CDROM play {who cares}), has more libraries (image loading, sound mixing, audio in, sprites, many text libraries), newer, LGPL (although there is OpenGLUT), and also cross-platform (as is GLUT).

My opinion, SDL is The Way (TM)

These libraries where not created exactly for the same purpose, but SDL will let you set-up a window that (openGL can render to) quickly and easily, and handles mouse events. If that is what you are using GLUT for, than you can use SDL instead. SDL does a lot of other things as well, such as sound.
