Hi guys, I'm using MS Visual C++ 6.0 Enterprise and i'm wondering how I can profile in real-time, or over a certain time period as the game runs. So far i've only been able to get it to profile one pass over my code (well this is what I think it's doing). This isn't very useful, because obviously the game hasn't started properly by this stage. Is what im asking possible using the VC++ profiler? Thanks.

What do you mean, one pass over your code? The profiler will collect profiling information for as long as the application is running.

I choose to profile function timing. The profiler and game starts, displays about 1 frame, then closes and and the profiler outputs its results. It might be crashing.. i'll try and catch the message in the console before it closes...

EDIT:

It's failing to load an image. Is there something the profiler does that screws up the directory structure or something? Because the game runs fine normally.

Yeh, definitely crashing. The profiler doesn't mess with code flow; it just sits around monitoring.
