convert maya file to direct3d x file

If you/your artist actually has Maya, then you can use the exporter plugin which comes with Extras package from the DirectX 9 SDK.

You could use a commercial conversion package such as Okino's PolyTrans to convert directly.

If you only have the Maya file and can't afford PolyTrans, you could find a utility to convert from Maya to an intermediate format such as .3DS or .OBJ, and then convert from that format to .X.

There are tools such as CONV3DS which came with a previous version of the DirectX SDK to convert from *.3ds files to *.x files. I'm not aware of any which go from Maya format directly to X format, but I've never needed to do that, so may have missed one.
