I made a simple program just for testing(very simple,TCP). while working well on LAN,it doesn't work on the Internet. I sure I can ping the server and there is no firewall installed on the server and the clients. So my question is why the program doesn't work? There are some parts of my test program //Server m_pSocket->Create(lpszAddress,nPort + 700) //Client m_pSocket->Connect(lpszAddress, nPort + 700)

What do you mean "doesn't work"? What socket library are you using? Is the address correct (e.g. not a local IP)? Does Create() succeed? Is it only Connect() that fails?

these "parts" are too short, we can't figure out what you are doing, if we get only two lines...

can you post your call to bind()?

try starting the server, and then connect to the server with telnet over the internet (telnet comes with your operating system). is telnet able to open the connection? does the server receive the new connection? can it receive data?

Chris
