OpenGL Standart object deformation

Hello Can I deform standard objects of GLU library? I need to bend a cylinder on any degree (at least on 90 degree). My friend saw somewhere an article and assures me that it is possible using gluCylinder function, but he forgot. I'm using OpenGL 1.1 and Borland Delphi. Thank you.

gluCylinder sends the vertices directly to the card, so the only way you could deform it would be to use a vertex shader (which isn't OpenGL 1.1, you'll need to use an extension). Either way you might want to take a look into FFD (free-form deformation), although it might be a little overkill for what your wanting.
