In my game, i will need some basic windows controls such as button, edit or list control, but i don't like them same as common windows controls. Now i have two choices, one is that i develop these controls myself, other is i use those provided by windows and draw them myself. I want to know which choice is much better?

it depends.

If you want to use it again but might be developing for another platform (e.g. Linux or a console machine) then having created the widgets yourself will make porting them a *lot* easier.

But, using the Windows controls gives you increased familiarity with Windows, which is good if you plan to be developing for that platform for a while. And, if the user skins the Windows interface the widgets may adopt the skinned images.

Also, if your game operates in a window all or most of the time, it is considered by most people that all the widgets should look the same. But if it's a fullscreen app this doesn't really matter (and you could probably do a more artistic rendering of the widgets that fits your game theme better).

You'll really have to ask yourself this question in order to get the best answer.
