I've looking for tutorial, lessons, tricks about make a 3d game, but everywhere i can see quake mesh exporter, quake files, quake editor... I don't thing all games in the world are made with quake tools. I want make my mesh in 3dsmax and export it in .x file and i've just made it. Now i want make a terrain, simple terrain, i want make some stones some trees, but i don't know if i must make them just inside 3dsma within the terrain or make them apart. So please answer to this first question. :) Then if i make that the second step is loading first the "world" like a mesh then the sprite in the game (just like a second mesh). isn't it? but for the lights? Please answer me at these questions, if you, i'll can walk-up. TNX!!!!!

It depends on what you want.

If you want a 3D tile-engine system kind of thing, you could have a terrain made of tiles.

If you want a 3D terrain-engine, you could have a terrain generated with a heightmap. Of course, later on, you'll add objects to it through an external resource, for example your own map format.

If you don't want to do that much work, just create the whole world in your file. (copy paste copy paste in 3DS Max)

Anyway, there must be someone wise enough to tell you more, I'm just suggesting things.

Ciao Pipo you are ever the best.

I would build my game like this image illustrate:

it is a simple 3D world like a not regular terrain (with hills to cross over or climb) with trees, stones objects and sprite.
now i have made all that in 3dsmax i have export to.x the tree alone, the stone alone, the terrain and the sprite alone.
Now i know how load a textured mesh like a sprite, now i want load also the other objects, but i need a collision too.
Yes i know about bounding sphere collision but:
what is the best method to load all that sprites, how can include BS collsion inside the object classes.

Tnx
