Are you trying to stream the .ogg file or just load an entire file's data into a buffer?

You might want to try FMOD or something...

If you wish, I suppose I could send you some of the code from my audio manager (specifically pertaining to .ogg loading and playing ;) ) Using dsound of course...

Oh, it uses dsound8 though, but it should not be too much different than dsound7

Have a look at the downloads section of www.vorbis.com. There are DirectShow filters for OggMedia files and Vorbis encoded sound. With those, stuff like the Media Player is suddenly able to play OGM-Videos, and it should be a pretty easy way to make your programs use OGG files.

I suggest looking at Brian Hook's SAL library:

http://www.bookofhook.com/sal

I am using it in my released shareware game and it works really well. It can output to either DSound or waveOut, and it works under MacOS X and Linux too.

It uses a BSD-style license so you can use it in anything without having to open source your own code.

Also... it is free.
