question from a total noob

folks, Probably seen this same question a million times. Im looking to get into game development a bit more from a code level, my background is graphics mainly modelling with Maya. What would be the best way to start out, as I understand it C++ is the way to go? if so should I go with i.e. MS visual C++ or is there better and more widely used compilers? although i myself am i newb from what i can tell if u just learn c and python that should be enough they are very compatible and c is fast and easier to learn then c++...but good luck on what u choose

you may want to get the platform SDK from Microsoft, whatever your developing. It contains enough help to get by with the Windows API.
