Hi, I''m currently working on a converter which converts one 3D file format to another. While the original fileformat consists of (not necessarily closed or convex) polygon meshes the destination fileformat likes convex objects. Both fileformats describe their 3D objects as a collection of 3D polygons. The destination fileformat supports "invisible" polygons. Now I''m looking for an algorithm to convert (some of) the polygon meshes in the original fileformat to multiple convex objects. I''ve already got some ideas on how to do this, but I guess there is probably some (faster or better) standard algorithm for this. Does anyone know of such an algorithm? Or does anyone have some ideas on the subject?
