(AI) Fighting Virtual Robots

Wow - well, if I had more time on my hands (and/or knew Maya) I'd play my hand at that. But as for games, it seems more of an ongoing competition... kind of like a virtual robotwars or something (for those of us lacking proper engineering experience [wink])
There are many, many robot simulation games where you program the AI. I remember a game called Pbots for Pascal and Cbots for C. Both of these are probably pretty good learning tools for AI.

I have always wanted to hire a programmer who worked on one of those autonmous robot competitions (like soccer) because I think they have a better sense of programming interesting behaviour in real time. Most kids out of college tell you about A* or beyseian (spelling?) networks or genetic algorhythms -- ie pretty useless stuff.
