I have two meshes: a plane (made from two polygons) and a box. When the plane divides the box in two, the line of the intersection looks jagged and ugly, although at some angles it looks OK. Is there a way to do this right?

YUPEEE!
I've solved this problem by changind the projection matrix's near clipping plane from 0.1 to 5.
Does anyone know why this makes such a difference?

The z-buffer only has a limited range of values to work with. The greater the distence between your near and far clipping planes, the grater likelyhood of z-buffer artifacts. Also note that the z-buffer performs more accurately on things closer to the near plane so artifacts tend to appear deeper in the scene.
