where does the -> operator come into play with C++ and what does it do? i have a feeling it has to do with classes but i cant find anything when i google it....thanks

the -> operator is equivalent to

(*p).

it is used because pointers to classes are quite common in C/C++

for example

SomeClass *SomePointer = new SomeClass(whatever);

(*SomePointer).SomeMethod(); //This calls the SomeMethod method of SomeClass

SomePointer->SomeMethod(); //This does the same thing

its just shorthand
