Does Office XP just custom draw all their tools? Or is there a way to make it look all flashy like that with very little work? I want to know how to have outlines around the selected menu look "custom" like that. They do it in .NET IDE as well, except it is blue instead of beige-ish. -Greg

They use their own controls. In Visual Studio 2005/Express there are new menu and toolbar controls that look like that.

Cheers
So to make a control like that I would have to do my own painting?

Yep. I did it a long time ago in good old c++. I had to catch about every window message the system sent, and redraw everything. It can be done, but it's hard work to get it right. I'm not a expert, but it might be easier under .NET.
ugh, okay. Thanks guys.
Alternately, just purchase/license controls with that appearance from someone else.
