how to use gmax files

Recommended Posts

Short answer: you can't.
GMax is only available for game MODs. There is no public API, you'd have to license one for your game.
You can, however, use supported export formats like MD3 and load these - there are many tutorials available for this.

In short: Forget it.

You can export MD3 files from Gmax and use them in your own games. It turns out this is illegal, but it works.

you could create your own import/export plugins, as long as its not for commercial use.

Hi There!!!

First off, The above listings are 100% true! It is illegal to use Gmax for comercial stuff...

I have Great News for you!

There is a FREEWARE application that is much better to use than GMAXX...

It is called WINGS 3d

http://www.wings3d.com/

It will do alot of nice things for you :)

To animate things you can use BLENDER:
http://www.blender.org/

there are Python scripts to Export to many game engines Directly...plus there are exporters for many 3d applications...

For further porting to game engines try this free product...:
http://files.seriouszone.com/download.php?fileid=198

It is a UV maping utility, but it also imports many many game engines...

For a few dollars you can also buy Milkshape from Chumbalumb software... this Imports and Exports to every game engine known to GOD and man...

STAY AWAY from GAME space!!!! Or caligari products in general...

anyways....

I have my own Studio, and some very expensive software... i use the above listed more than anything :/

anyways.. hope this helps :)

There are many many other free ware solutions loook on sourceforge, and do a search for Render, or 3d....

Have a good one :)
