d3dxcreatetexture problem

Hi! My problem is that D3DXCreateTextureFromFile creates all mip levels, regardles of the fact that my dds files has only 3 mip levels. I've got to get file info and the use d3dxcreatetexturefromfileex with relevat number of levels, but then it prbably creates levels again and not getting them from dds file... Is this function useless in such cases? It' hard to believe for me...
