SDL vs. DirectDraw

I do not intend for this to become a flame war. I want to know what the differences are between SDL and DirectDraw. I know DirectDraw is older. I also know that SDL is supposedly easier to learn.

SDL actually uses DirectDraw in its Windows implementation, so the only difference is how you use the APIs. Most people find SDL easier to learn because you do not have to deal with C++ classes or COM.

SDL is also cross platform, so if all your graphics code is in SDL, it will compile unchanged on Linux, Mac and other platforms.
