mappy file format

ok im using the map editor mappy to make a map (go figure) any way i want my game to read the file in as a .txt file so i go to "export as text file" and it gives me an array of const chars in a text file but dose it put the addresses of what each char is(what tile it represents)? or do i have to do 400+ case statements when reading a map? (yeah i have alot of tiles)

How would it know what tile is what? Wouldn't it just know that tile #42 is image #42 and let you figure out the rest?

I've used it before and I didn't think that it kept any other important info.
