Hi, the problem im telling to you is denying my progress in the completation of my little 3d world using my little silly C++/Direct3D9 graphic engine. In the graphic engine there is a DirectX format(.x) importer that imports 3d models .x, so, the problem could be, at the base, that i dont know this format enought to write my own .x importer(i've written mine based on Microsoft DXSDK Samples), because this importer in the graphic motor loads only somekind of .x formats, not everyone. For months ive read everythings ive found on .x format, and slowly the complexity of this format made me going mad :) so there is this hole in my way: i've a little silly(but functional) engine that can load a little quantity of geometry and visualize it, and ive thousand of .3ds models to convert in a .x format that my very silly .x importer can loads. So, now i have Okino PolyTrans 4.1.2, and i want to convert from .3ds models to .x models; ive tried to set the options in the export window settings for .x models as ive found in the help, but i didnt get any models that my importer can load... I know that i need ASCII format .x models and if i open the file .x in the first raw there is a serial-number: "xof 0303txt 0032". The only models i can load and visualize correctly are models .x exported from MilkShape(im not the creator of them, which ive downloaded). How can i transform a .max or .3ds model in a .x format that my silly importer can load? If i use PolyTrans 4.1.2 how can i know all the options i have to set for the .x exporting? How can i get out from my hole? please:) Cheers Kev

Just my thoughts and advice...
Haven't used poly-trans for a long time, only a really early version.3D exploration does a great job converting file formats for me no problems(well..for static geomitry anyways).

For animated mesh from 3dsmax? there's the standard MS exporter(works for me) the panda one(a bit better) and the Quest3D one(this one works the best for animated characters for me).

Hope that helps -;)
