I have a feeling that I'm not going to get to do what I want, but just to be sure I thought I'd ask. I'm using the IDirect3DSurface9 interface to display to the screen, and I want to load up a png using the D3DXLoadSurfaceFromFile functin. The image loads up fine, but for the life of me I cannot get the transpancy to work when I copy the surface to the backbuffer (I've tried StretchRect and D3DXLoadSurfaceFromSurface). I can get the alpha blending to work using the ID3DXFont interface, so I think the problem is not with the way I set up my device but what I am trying to do. I would very much like to avoid using vertices with textures, but I have a feeling that is the only way I can get alpha blending to work. Is there any way to load up a png into a surface and display it while using the alpha informaion stored in the file? Cheers, Neil
