Hello, I am new to this, we now have a game for 3D. We divided all objects into two parts, a low polygon count version, and a high polygon count version. I was wondering that what is the most suitable method : 1. build the low and high version same time at the beinging of production, then give the LOD game play to the boss for approval. OR 2. build the high version then get the approval then go for the low version.

You forgot option 3: Build the low detail version, get approval and then do the rest.

As a rule of thumb, when getting the green light for a project you just need to get something working that demonstrates the gameplay, you don't necessarily have to blow them away with the full feature set and wonderful graphics right from the start.

I'd go for whichever option allows you to put a playable game in front of your boss the quickest. Which option this is probably depends on how your artists prefer to work, and how much work is required of your programmers to make sure the LOD feature is reasonably stable.

Also, this is a cross post.
